Over Rudy Pont
A320 captain, IFALPA director for Belgium, M.Sc. in Air Safety Management, M.Sc. in Safety Sciences
Rudy Pont is a Belgian national, experienced A320 captain, and freelance safety consultant. Though he began his career in electromechanical engineering, more than 15 years of safety experience convinced him that people are safety. That’s why he is a strong advocate of a more humanistic approach to safety, which explains his strong beliefs about Just Culture, Safety-II, and organizational learning. It’s also the reason why he is an active member of the EUROCONTROL Just Culture Task Force and vice chair of the Belgian Just Culture Platform.
Rudy is the IFALPA director for Belgium and holds an M.Sc. in Air Safety Management from the City University of London as well as an M.Sc. in Safety Sciences from the University of Antwerp where he is also a part-time lecturer.
Rudy is not just a speaker; he is a bridge-builder—true to the meaning of his name. He connects management with employees, aviation with other industries, and the judiciary with operational experts. According to him, safety is not an isolated concept but an integral part of organizational culture, directly linked to quality and efficiency via employee engagement.
His keynote presentation, “People Don’t Come to Work to Do a Bad Job,” delivers a powerful message: understanding each other’s context is crucial for fostering a learning environment and driving continuous improvement. Whether addressing safety conferences or corporate events, Rudy provides invaluable insights that resonate across industries.
