About Leonie Boskeljon-Horst
Head of Occurrence Investigation, Aviation psychologist and HF specialist at the Royal Netherlands Air Force
Since graduating from Leiden University, I have been serving in the Royal Air Force. I studied organizational and social psychology. The first 17 years of my career in the Air Force I worked as an aviation psychologist and human factors specialist. As a human factors specialist, I have been involved in incident and accident investigations. My current position as chief accident investigator was the next logical step. In this position I conduct investigations after incidents/accidents, but my real mission is to implement a Safety II or Safety Differently look within the RNLAF. The first steps to achieve that goal have been taken: incident investigations based on why it made sense for those involved to do what they did and discovering the gap between the work as proposed and the work as done; for accident investigations and learning teams. I also focus on bringing about social safety and a Restorative Just Culture within the RNLAF and increasing safety and effectiveness by making local resourcefulness visible.
